1971 Cutlass Dash Removal
I am trying to remove the dash pad from my 1971 Cutlass Convertible with AC. I have removed all of the nuts that hold the pad in place with the exception of the 1 (maybe 2) to the left of the light switch. I have removed the fuel guage, the steering column and the vent but none give me access to the nuts. Looks like removing the section of AC duct and the plastic housing would let me in but it is screwed to the back of the dash on the far side.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. I am sure I am not the the first person to attempt this.

The stud that's to the left of the light switch goes into a friction clip. Make sure all the other nuts are off, and then you need to yank the dash straight back and it will pop out of the clip. Make sure you pull straight back not to break the stud. The clip should stay with the dash. I assume Olds did this since it's not accessible with the ac duct there. I believe I left the ac ducts attached to the dash pad and fished them out of the dash frame. There's a recent post of (dash pad removal) that has a pic of this clip. 71 assembley manual shows the stud locations as well as the clip, If you don't have a manual, I would highly recommend it.
