A-Pillar Interior trim

I have a few questions for the Classicoldsmobile brain trust. These questions are directed to the '69-'72 A-body owners. I'm rebuilding a '72 442 convertible and need the interior A-pillar trims; some cars have metal trims and others have a vinyl covered foam pad with a metal backplate.
So, here are my questions:
1. Are the A-pillar trims the same between convertible, hardtop and coupe cars?
2. What years had metal A-pillar trims and what years had the vinyl padded ones?
3. What is the best source for a repop'd part?
4. The Parts Place has a repo trim that is molded urethane, I assume without the metal backplate. How well do these fit? Anyone with first hand experience?
5. Is there another repop source for a more authentic part or is my best option to locate used parts in good condition?

Thanks!
