1970 A/C ducts

I have two A/C ducts with square houses hooked to them, from what I have found on this site there may not be replacements for the flexible square hoses but can anyone tell me if the shorter one on the bottom is missing a plastic piece as is on the top one. The lower hose was just attached directly to the center air duct while the top one connects to a plastic piece that snaps to the center air splitter. Thanks.

The long one is the passenger side and the plastic piece is correct for it. The shorter one for the drivers side does not have a plastic piece in it. It goes directly over the center piece. The center piece has some small tabs that are intended to hold it on when it slides over.

thanks Jeff I thought that was how it was but mostly hoping for that answer - as we all know how we get these cars aren't always how they were supposed to be
