'55 88 rear seat spring set?

I have a back seat spring set that came as an extra with a '55 Olds 88 2dr sedan that has a complete interior installed.

Can you guys help me figure out what it's out of? Hopefully I can get some pic's on here.

I was trying to fit in my '57 Chevy 2dr sedan. Didn't work!!

The red tag is on the seat bottom and the yellow is on the back rest.

Someone with a Hollander could probably tell by the numbers you listed but a quick measurement with a tape would maybe be helpful for the rest of us.
Looks to be in excellent shape..... Good luck..... Tedd

I don't know for sure, but the white and yellow striped label has "36 & 44" on a line with "Series." This points me at a Cutlass "36" and 4-4-2 "44" from a Trim tag. Anybody else see that?

Just the width of the bottom and the length and width of the top springs. My concern is if it just happens to be a spring set for a convertible the the springs would be shorter/narrower on the top.... Tedd

Seat bottom base width = 64 3/4. Back rest top (package tray) = 55 1/4. Spring top = 54. Spring length = 20 3/4.

Here's some more pic's. Thanks...............Steve

I recently picked up a couple parts cars, one is a 1954 Olds 88 four door. The seat back frame looks a lot like the one you have here. The seat bottom has some different bars in it. I'll attach a couple photos for you to see what you think. John

Here's what I can find ;
Yellow tag :
Ternstadt = Turnsteadt Manufacturing Co. A subsidiary of Fisher Body . They manufactured such things as window regulators and seat frames for GM .

Columbus = Take your pick , about half the states in the union have a " Columbus " No intelligent info was obtained when I Googled " Turnsteadt Columbus " .

B body = 1955 Olds 88 had a "B" body

11 & 69 - back = seat back for 11 (two door post ) and 69 (four door post ) sedans .

4639282 = ? . Couldn't find this number anywhere in my books. However part numbers can change , and part numbers on parts may not always represent the actual number in the book . Like , if they were part of an assembly or package .
The 1960 parts book lists ; 11.628 FRAME AND SPRING ASSEMBLY , REAR SEAT BACK . For 1954 & 1955 - 3611 - 11D - 69 - 69D (two and four post sedans , both 88 and super 88 as part number 4209626 .
It also lists ; 11.610 FRAME & SPRING ASSY. , REAR SEAR CUSHION . , for 1954 & 1955 - 3611 - 11D (two door post sedans , both 88 and super 88 )
As part number 4641163

36 & 44 series = ( 36 ) Olds 88 & ( 44 ) Buick Special . Both used a " B " body .

Red tag ;
3611 = two door post sedan (55-3611)

With that information I think you may conclude that this seat frame will fit 54 & 55 Olds 88 and Super 88 two door post cars . And maybe Buick two door post cars from the same era .

Thank You Tedd, John & Charlie. John: According to the Chevy Tri-5 forum, the sedans (2 & 4 dr) all used the same back cushion. The 2dr sedan used a different seat bottom than the 4 dr sedan. Maybe Olds/Buick is the same. That may be the difference in the two.

Charlie: I think you misspelled Ternstedt in your Goggle search. I found that they had 6 plants one of which was in Columbus, Ohio.

Now what to do with them??

Thanks again...........Steve
