70 Black Dash Pad (Type Of Paint?)

Hey Guys,

I want to freshen up my dash pad and was wondering what you use for that?

I was leaning towards SEM Landau Black. Would that work?

Thanks!
Brian

I've used the SEM on dash pads with good results. Be sure to follow the preparation instructions exactly. I used a toothbrush to ensure all dirt and grease was out of the plastic grain. Use the SEM etching solution before applying paint.

I just did the same to my convertible this week. The SEM is fantastic stuff. Clean well as Joe said and I apply Duplicolour adhesion promoter. It may not be necessary, but I've had great results using it. A few before and after pictures.

That's the one. SEM is one of those products that exceeds expectations. On your final coat don't put it on too heavy as it will make it a little shinier than it should be.

Chrome Trim Removal?

Is there a way to remove the chrome trim with the clips without breaking the trim or the clips with the dash pad in place? I want to paint the dash pad but I would like to reuse the chrome trim if at all possible.

I just carefully pulled the moulding off, however, not all the clips came out of the dash. For the ones that didnt I used needle nose pliers to remive them. The clips just snap back into the moulding. If the holes in the dash pad are fairly small you can reuse them, otherwise use a fresh spot in the pad. A little tedious but doable.
