After getting a few $1000+ quotes on recovering the vinyl on my split bench seat I started seeking an alternative. Not really particular about keeping things original so do you think it's doable to fit these Jeep bucket seats in my 68 Cutlass supreme 4 door holiday sedan? At 134$ a piece it looks like a pretty decent deal. There is also a high back model. Not sure what would be required to get them to fit. New brackets will be needed I know that.

yeahbuddy, I'm trying to remember, do you live in Washington State? I've got a friend in Eugene selling a recovered split bench seat with armrest. Its also a power bench... $375. If your close enough to pick it up I think its a super bargain. Let me know if your interested, I'll pass on her contact information to you.

Hey, I am in Southern California. My bench seat is in good condition but the covers itself are just torn and worn. I don't want to spend much to fix the issue.

 

OK, if you don't need to stay original you might just wander through the local wrecking yards. Many years ago I picked up a set of Ricaro bucket seats that came factory in a Murker (I think that's how you spell it!) I had to fabricate brackets and it put the top of my head closer to the headliner but I drove that car with those seats for about 125,000 miles. John

 

you can recover a bench...theres nothing to it...i never did a seat in my life..decided i wanted to try a bench on my nova and just did it...a seat cover is cheap..you need side cutters hog rings and hog ring pliers...there is really nothing to it...yu can do it in about 2 hours..find a seat cover on JC Whitney ya like...

 

You might try a search on craigslist and see if you can find buckets.

 

If you don't care about keeping it original, then just recover your old seats with whatever you feel like.

Or, get a set of covers and the related parts, as Mark said, and just do it yourself - it's like putting a pillowcase on a pillow, only harder.

But, hey, it's your car. If you like a set of seats from any other car, or a pair of milk crates, then go for it.

Reproduction covers are cheap... and it really is not rocket science to redo them yourself... Then it still looks right.

Looking at a classic car with seats from something else in it just looks wrong.... but thats just me.
