white or Black manual shifter ball

white or Black manual shifter ball

I have a 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and wanted to know what is the correct manual shifter ball color- white, Black or doesn't it matter. its on a muncie M21 Hurst shifter.

The Olds factory used black shift *****.

Some prefer to use the white ones. Those came on Pontiacs.

If the car came with a console the black ball was plain,if no console the shift pattern was on it. I prefer the "old school cool" look of the white ones! I also use a white Hurst "t" handle on mine.

My 1965 came with a plain black one.
