68/69 console

68/69 console

Is there any modification to do to the shifter console when replacing 2 speed jetaway to Turbo 400 transmission?

I have a new kit with new lens and cable. Does the chrome plate hjave to be modified?

The only changes are the curved gate in the shifter (so you have detents for all three forward gears), the gear indicator lens, the cable, and the bracket on the trans pan that holds the lower end of the cable. Everything else is the same.

I had to modify the top chrome plate as well as the curved metal gate to allow for extra travel on mine.

Then you did something wrong.

There is only one P/N for that panel on the 67-69 AT consoles - 396000 (without the applique). This is for both two speed and three speed applications. I'm guessing that your mods to the curved gate were not the same as OEM, thus the problem with excessive travel.
