Splined or smooth?

I was at a cruise in this past Saturday and one of my buddies brought his '71 442 'vert. While looking it over, I noticed his door lock ***** had the "splines" around the outside. I looked up door lock ***** on Fusick and they show both the splined and smooth for the '70-'72 Oldsmobile A bodies. My '72 Supreme has the smooth ones, so how would I know if they're the right ones, or should they have the splines?

Smooth pulls for your 1972. I think pulls with splines ended in 1970.

Gotcha..so if you look at these pics, splines are listed for '68-'72, and smooth are listed for '71-'77.
Was there an overlap?

I think the chrome pulls with splines are only 1969 + 1970. 1968 used colored pulls with splines, they may have used some chrome ones. 1971 up are smooth. If there was an overlap, it would have been on very early 71 cars. It's one of those items that everybody says it fits 1968-72, but in reality it wasn't used on all those years. Another example of that are the square GM door stickers. I could be wrong, but I think BOPC all followed that pattern.

Once again, don't ever assume an aftermarket supplier catalog is correct. FYI, Fusick also lists the application years for these motor mounts incorrectly.
