Speedometer face
Speedometer face
Does anybody know where I can find a speedometer face for a 1972 Cutlass, that is graduated in kilometers per hour. I would like to keep the gauges looking original. I live in Canada and am currently using a GPS mounted in the ash tray hole to do the conversion from MPH to KPH. It looks kind of tacky with the wires and all.
Thanks,
RR

If you can get ahold of really good sized clear photos of a KPH face, there are gauge-related shops you can search online that can silkscreen a replicated KPH pattern over a standard face.
I had that done years ago on a '68 Charger speedo - MPH to KPH - was a perfect replica for not a lot of $$ then.
just a thought

Contact a local shop that does gauge restoration. Ask them for pictures of their work so you get some confidence in their abilities.
Tell them to copy the existing number font and tick marks to make up a new 200 kph face. A good shop will send you proofs of the layout for you to approve before they go ahead.
Discuss if they may need to number by 20s to avoid crowding, but you can evaluate that with the proofs.
Have them calibrate the speedo for 200 kph maximum.
I had a tach made from a 1970 Cutlass clock by a local shop and by looking, it's hard to believe it's not a factory option.
Good luck, and post pictures when you are done!
