Sound/Noise deadening material

Sound/Noise deadening material
What material have most people used under their carpet to quiet the road noise?
I see that the original jute material can be bought and installed but are there alternatives that may be better /and or cheaper ?

I did a thread a while back called "dynamat - worth it or a waste" that could help you.
Most of these similar products are okay, just avoid ones that use actual tar in them, unless you just love the smell! It melts in hot cars, too. This rules out most roofing stuff.
The dense heavy sticky stuff dampens vibrations and noise and the foamy stuff insulates from heat.

I've used dyna-mat in cars before and it works great, although it is kind of expensive, especially the type that is foiled on both sides. If you have a Lowe's or Home Depot (probably most places like that carry it), they carry a "foil both sides" material for use in houses that works just as well and is about half the price.

You could get away with using carpet padding in the door panels and behind the rear seat wall. This would be super low budget i need something anything will work type deal though. It wont be as effective as the real deal but should do some good.

That's Refexit, or something like that. Great for temp insulation, does nothing for sound.
But if you really want to go all out.

Reflexit over the fatmat

The worthless tar paper stuff I already paid for over the reflexit

Heavy rubber, jute backed firewall insulator;

Then the jute backed carpet over that.

That looks like it should be nice and quiet
but with all those layers how does it affect
all your interior pcs going back in like the kick
panels and your door sill plates ?
