I am having trouble keeping the silver piping around the plastic part of a 69 bucket staying in place. Is there some kind of secret or glue that works well for this repo piping?

The directions said put it out in the sun to get the adhesive to activate and instal ..............But it just doesn't want to stay in place.

Any help would be appreciated.

 

If you are having trouble with the glue maybe you could make sure the seat material is super clean and reinstall it on the weekend when you know you won't drive the car for a couple of days. Then you can hold the piping in place with some sort of tape (I'm thinking the blue masking tape you get for painting). Let it sit it the sun all day and for a couple of days afterward so the glue has time to set.

Just an idea.

 

Thanks Olds 64 I figgered it out. The repos are flexible plastic with kinda rubber cemet in the grove that isn't worth a "Tinkers Hurray"

When I looked at the real deal, it's a stiffer molded plastic that is actually molded to the shape of the bucket. i.e. It works and almost snaps on. The repro stuff comes in a roll that has no molded to it and as you know, "The devil is in the details"
