Seat ID / Fit
The rear seat frames for my 70 cutlass convertible have seen better days.
I have another set they are pretty close but have a curved section.
Will these fit?
Will the seat covers that I ordered for the 70's work?
Thoughts?
different springs?
curved back on the blue one

Am i correct that the Brown are the 70's and the blue are 71/72?
The overall dimensions should be the same for both sets of years. I'm surprised that the 71/72s have the notches on the sides of the lower frames, I thought that was only a hardtop thing.
The 70 covers will fit the 71/72 frames, even with the notches, you just go over the opening as if it was solid.
The hooks on the back of the upper frame should attach to the rear frame structure (rods) not to the slots in the frame steel itself. Somewhere i have some pics of a 70 convertible back seat i did, i'll try and dig them up.
Here are notes on the frame dimensions just to be sure,(although if the brown one was your original, should just be able to match those dims.)

Thank you, sir, I appreciate the help.
The Brown ones are actually dirt-covered black, yes the original 70's
Not sure what year the other ones are. But the frames are in much better shape.
Do you have a suggestion on cleaning/ prepping the springs?
Thanks again for the help.

Make any required repairs... then you can decide on the level of prep and cleaning.
GM didn't paint their seat frames or springs so its 100% expected and normal to see a basic level of "corrosion"- meaning like a light rusty coating.
Most of the time i will not do anything other than basic cleaning if the springs/frame are like that. However- if the springs are VERY rusty, with noticeable pitting and rust "barnicles" (i don't know what else you call that stuff) on them, you might consider having them blasted, then prime and paint them.
