All Thumbs Upholstery Inc. ....The Back Seat

So, I did the front seats a couple years ago.....been meaning to put new covers on the rear seat but life gets in the way of these fun projects.....

So, the rear bottom foam is actually in pretty amazing shape.....the springs are all in good nick, and the frames look really good (still shiny for the most part except where the hog rings rubbed. So, being lazy....I didn't refoam the bottom.

Simply off with the old cover and on with the new. About 10 mins to take the old cover off.....and after reviewing youtube videos.....about 45 mins to get the bottom cover on start to finish

The top of the seat....looks to be more of a challenge. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to be lazy and just put a layer of batting over the old (which really seems ok) and reinforce the top......or take it all out and go with all new foam.

Anyway, pics of todays progress........the bottom came out pretty good I think.

Fat guy installed, Bulldog approved.

Cheers,

Troy

P.S. For the love of GOD....why cant Legendary ship the seat covers WITH the listing wire already installed? Seriously....why cheap out on that??

Great job. Nice dog too.

I found that angled hog ring pliers work much better than the straight pliers.

Out with the old....

This morning was the top of the back seat.......this was really easy, almost to the point where somewhere in the back of my mind I screwed some thing up.....but I think it came out just fine.

For those like me who are petrified of these types of projects......this was really easy. You could easily do the whole seat (top and bottom) start to finish in a couple of hours.

Cheers,

Troy

Looks good nice work,. I considered redoing my back seat but it's in decent shape and it doesn't really get any use so a cleaning is all it gets

Here they are “installed”......

I didn’t bolt the backs in or put the bottom seat wire in correctly because sooner or later......the rest of the interior is going to be redone and nobody sits back there....and I’m really lazy...

I’d like to just express my appreciation for all you guys and the community here.....you guys inspire me to tackle projects I probably otherwise wouldn’t attempt...

Cheers,

Troy

Troy, I'm too lazy to look up what year convertible you own. Mine is a '71 CS convertible. I think it was the only year with this color interior....I was told this and based upon some research I think it must be correct? I'm not 100% on this but it appears to be correct.

Anyways, I did both my rear seat & rear back last February (Legendary) and replaced the carpet, as well. I found the rear back to be the toughest. I really had to compress the springs to get the fabric over the seat but it turned out great. I found the fabric to be excellent. I really wasn't so much concerned about the listing wire. I really found it wasn't all that bad. But I think you just like to bitch.

Just kidding.

You did a nice job. The bulldog has new fabric to drool over.

I do like to bitch, brother! It’s my reason d’etre!

Yes, it’s a 71......I.m fat so compressing the springs wasn’t too bad. The front buckets were a relative nightmare.

Cheers,

Troy
