Removing back of bench seat

I'm restoring a 72 Cutlass with a bench seat. How do you remove the back of the front bench seat?

Thank you

With arm rest, or with out?
Arm rest in up position. OR remove first. Push back of seat forward you will see a plastic flap, open flap to access bolts. Remove all 4. Arm rest is done.

Remove chrome cap on side of seat. By the seat belt reactor on the floor by doors.
(Good luck not destroying them). They do not re-pop them yet either. They are made with a one way ring clip.

With seat in the upright position, pull pivot arm off of stud. You will not hurt it, but it might take a pull, or two.

Push back of seat forward, as if getting in to the back seat. As far as you can get it.
Then lift up. There is a "j" hook in the middle that will slide out.

Sorry I do not have photos, on this computer.

Fusick makes a similar cap, part no. 3288, about $6.50/ea. They say it's for a 61-65 bucket seat but the Fusick "Bucket Seat Rod End Cap[s]" look just like the ones that came off the bench seat of my '68 4-4-2 and they fit back on my seat exactly the same. There are some scammers on ebay that try to sell these things for $60-$70 each so beware of that as well.

Thanks

Thanks Hamm and Randy C. That gives me the confidence to take it apart and hopefully cover it and then get it back together.

currently working on floor and headline, spent the day clearing out old headline and package tray. After that I'll tackle the seat. I think I have all the parts except the end cap and some hogrings. I have a set of Legendary seat covers ready to go.
