Rear Seat Removal?

Rear Seat Removal?
I ran a search on rear seat removal and didn't come up with what I was looking for. I'd like to know how to remove the rear seat bottom and seat back on my 64 2DR F85?
From what I've already heard, the seat bottom must be removed first. I haven't been able to tell where the bolt or release mechanism is for this.
Before I get to rough with the seat I figured I better ask first. Any suggestions?

It's very likely that there is no release lever. I once owned a '64 Jetstar 88, and removing the rear seat bottom was simply a matter of pushing it backwards and pulling up on it at the same time. You need to get a catch wire out from under the thing it catches on. It's the same on my '67 Delta 88. No release lever of any kind. Just push back and up.
Removing the seat back is similar. No lever of any kind. Just push in and up, if I recall correctly. The seat back essentially hangs on mounting brackets.

GM has been using the same rear bench seat system for 3-4 decades.
Nothing is better then VISUALLY seeing how it's done.

Nice video, Aces.
I would just add that some of these older cars have a lot of give in the seat frame before the part that engages in the hook can move, and that you've got to push pretty darn hard at a very awkward angle to get it to disengage.
As I said at some point in a previous post on the same subject, once you see how it engages, you'll slap your forehead and go "Doh!"
Also, some of the seat back cushions are held on with two 3/8" head sheet metal screws at the very bottom of the cushion.

It's not all pink yet - still have the front fenders and the nose piece to do!
I've wanted another pink convertible since I blew up my last one back on college, and my wife's business logo is pink and black, so she's happy to have a big promotional prop.
As far as the Mary Kay - I hear you can make good money selling that stuff. Not sure that the ladies would warm up to me, but I bet I could open a new market and sell plenty of lipstick to the cross-dressers!![Big Grin](https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Since driving it around only partly painted this weekend, I can attest that this car gets the same response that the last one did - chicks smile, wave, and shout friendly things as I drive by.
No sh|te, mate.
The year after the pink convertible died, I had a light blue one - no response at all - so I feel confident saying it's the color. It's sure not my good looks

Good thing I'm safely married

Aceshigh- thanks for the video link, it helped me understand how it was being held in.

So the bottom is out, and the 2 fasteners at the bottom of the back cushion are out?
In that case, lift the back cushion straight upwards, toward the roof - it hooks downward into the trunk partition framework.
