I'm replacing interior seats (bench) . Would like to put 2 front buckets and matching rears in with a console. Any thoughts about this. I want to upgrade from the stock buckets.
The front buckets are an easy install. I would think that modifying the rear bench frames into buckets would be the way to go and then fab a custom console to run up the center hump.
What oldcutlass said is probably the best way. Some early 60's corvette seats, or mid 60's b body mopar seats may work as they where smaller. It's a cool look, I always wanted to do that. I first seen it in the 1970 Buick GSX prototype. Man if this doesn't scream 70's then I don't know what did. Such a wild car, love it.
Mid 2000's GTO seats are frequently swapped into 68-72 GM A-body cars by the pro-touring guys. The fronts are pretty straight forward, but the rears are too tall in stock GTO form and will need to be cut down to fit properly. I think most guys have removed material from the lower section of the seat backs so they don't stick up too far. Here's a couple pics installed in a Chevelle.
