PUI preassembled door panels (window crank knockouts).

Just curious on what you guys use to punch out the knockout. I thought about using a holesaw cutter the appropriate size . Not sure whether I want to use a drill or put something down on my workbench to protect it, put the panel face down and use the cutout to lightly tap until the knockout is free. Thoughts?

The knockouts should have a perforation around the diameter.

Just use a sharp box cutter and follow the outline.

DO NOT use a hole saw, as you could damage the panel.

Just be aware the knock outs may NOT be exactly where you need them to be...Take a dab of paint and put it on top of the window regulator and door handle studs and then clip the panel on at the top and let it rock down and let the paint touch the panel... will tell you if the knockouts are in the correct spots or not.

I made that mistake on a car about 20 years ago... I've never trusted knockouts locations since then.

once located though, i just use a sharp box knife to cut the panel board, then once its removed, carefully cut the vinyl from the front.
