I scored a power bucket seat base from a '77 Cutlass Supreme at the local U-Pullit today. I'm thinking this will be an easy swap under the bucket seat in my '67. Any reason to think otherwise?

(I'm typing this on my cellphone in the dark at the motel, so as not to wake the family...or I'd go into more detail.)

that is a good question. i just found a 76 with power bucket seats, windows, Hurst Hatch and all kinds of goodies for 76 at a yard. i am picking up whats left of the car for cheep. if nobody else knows i may know how close to the same they are this week.

I don't think it will be an easy swap because the floor pans have a different shape from '67 to a '76. You would probably have to modify the floor brackets or fabricate same...

Actually, it appears that the floorpans really aren't that different...at least at the seat attachment points. Both seat bases sit square and flat to the floorpan.

This is the power bucket seat base from the '77 Cutlass Supreme:



Upon measuring, I found that I could mount the assembly to the seat itself pretty easily. The mounting width of the '77 base is within 1/4" of the '67 seat, which means that I'd simply have to elongate the mounting holes in the base by 1/8" per side to bolt to the seat, but the length (front-to-back) is 13/16" shorter. It could be made to work by drilling a couple new holes in the seat frame 7/16" in on each end.

Mounting the base to the floorpan isn't going to be too difficult either. The front of the '77 brackets has holes 1-1/4" farther apart than the '67, but there's enough meat there in the '77 bracket feet to simply drill two new holes in the feet 9/16" closer inboard on each side to match up with the existing floor bracket. The '77 base has holes measuring an inch farther apart front-to-back than the '67, and there isn't enough room on the bracket to move the mounting holes in, meaning I'd have to drill new holes in the floorpan 1" farther back.
