Please help with console

Please help with console

I sent a 1972 cutlass console to get dyed, and the guy tells me now that the metal part, that goes on the front of the glove box can not be dyed how can i fix that part please help

Just don't buy the Parts Place garbage paints.

thanks i called them and yeah they are the best choice, also figured out how to paint the metal part you have to sand it and then put any type of primer and paint it with sem

There's no actual metal surface to paint on the outside of a 70-72 console...those guys aren't looking at it very closely (or more likely they didn't take it apart all the way).

The "metal" area you refer to (it surrounds the upper area of the console glovebox) is metal UNDERNEATH....but...the metal is coated with a sort of thin textured vinyl. DON'T sand it!!!!! You'll only succeed in screwing up the "texture" of the coating on that part.

All you have to do is clean it well and spray it with an adhesion promoter like Bulldog brand (follow their instructions) and then move on to the SEM or other vinyl paint stage. I've done a number of them this way.

Get the thing back and do it yourself.
