Paint for metal dash in 71

Hello all,

I've been trying to search for the correct color/paint for the metal sections of the dash, upper and lower, for my 71 442 with black interior. I was looking at the SEM products. They have the trim paints that sound like it's the paint I need, but not sure if it's their 39143 or 49133 trim paints. Can someone please let me know which paint to use?

Thank you,
John

Thanks Joe, I did see that in the assembly manual, but how does that help? I called the local auto paint store l. He said he couldn't do anything with those codes.

TCP Global can mix to these paint codes. I've used them and have no complaints.

Ok thanks Joe! Any way to have my local guy mix these colors?

I've posted the paint codes for Inmont, DuPont, and Ditzler above. If your paint supplier can't figure out how to mix one of those, you need to find a different supplier.

I've been using SEM "Landau Black" #15013 and am happy with the results.

But according to the charts he posted the plastic parts are semi-gloss and the metal parts are flat. I've been using the landau black for the console, glove box lid and other plastic pieces. It matches pretty well. I'm going to the paint shop tomorrow.

My 71 442 has the original dash/console components and the plastic is semi-gloss sheen, and the metal lower dash area is dead flat black. I have used SEM landau black before with good results myself.

But yeah, go with the chart and you can call it PIM correct and have a document to back you up.
