New Headliner - Wrong Color, can this be dyed?
New Headliner - Wrong Color, can this be dyed?
I just got my replacement headliner for my blue 1979 Calais, this has the camel tan lochland velour seats and the camel tan interior. Trouble is, the headliner I just bought was 1596 Tan, and it is too light. There is no way I am returning this headliner to the seller. My thought was, what about using a dye to spray it the right color, has anyone ever done this? I checked out the Vinyl Pro website and they advertise that that SEM Color Coat products work on Vinyl, plastic, carpet and velour, so I'm thinking they would work on a headliner cloth (?)
If I can't dye it I'm just going to install the headliner and live with the lighter color, I'm not to picky about this car. As much as I'd like it to color match the rest of the interior, I can settle for what I got. Also, would I spray it with the adhesion primer first or cut out that step due to the fabric?
Thanks.
