Interior wood species type
I did search here and google but didn't find a clear answer.
Building my own mini console for '72 98. Wrapped it in vinyl that matched door panels (Madrid?) and wanted to top it with wood grain. About 9x12 inch. Looks like maybe Rosewood? Of course Rosewood had several variation but this looks close......

I did think about real wood veneer but it's pricey, large sheets and this is more a skills refinement test not heirloom furniture.
Any better ideas?

Rosewood is the correct pattern for 72. I did a quick search in the Oldsmobile product guide for 72 and found this reference. It's for Cutlass Supreme, but in 72 all the faux wood was the same pattern.

My friend made me some pine door handle backers w walnut stain for my 72 , I thought they looked good, but kitfoxdave (where is he?) took me to task for using pine ....i cant tell the difference and no-one has ever commented on them as not matching.
