I need to replace the interior door panels on my '71 442. Anyone know the difference, if any, between the products from Legendary, OPGI, and year One? There is a significant price difference between the 3.

There are two manufacturers, Legendary and PUI. You would need to call OPG and YO to see which one they sell. YO costs way too much for everything. OPG is right behing.

Legendary is the best, across the board based on experience and comments and reviews i have personally read for the past 3 years. I used their parts and love 'em. If something is wrong, they will make it right.
They cost more, but are worth it.

PUI can be hit and miss and the quality is just not there.

PUI's door panels are "puffier" than originals and they wrinkle like trash bags. It looks awesome when woodgrain has wrinkles in it. Spend the extra money for Legendary.

I am a little surprised that no one has mentioned SMS? In terms of quality, it cannot be beat. Yes, it takes time, but the wait is more than worth it, when one sees the results.

I had them do the door panels on my '62. Yes, it took from October through January, but I knew that going in. Am more than pleased!

 

I am thinking for the 71 442, Legendary would be the better value (time and $).
SMS is great for those models Legendary does not cover. Yes, they are slow but quality is high.

I bought my whole interior about 18 months ago from Legendary, except the door panels. ( $$$ shortage ) Got the whole order within a couple of weeks. I ordered my door panels back in Sept '11, and got the last of the shipment in late Jan. '12. Don't get me wrong, I would have nothing but their products, but this ordeal was a nightmare. They kept calling me to say they were having problems with the tooling, and production was set back 2 to 3 weeks each time. This happened 5 or 6 times. Do the math. Anyway, they sent me what was ready, which was the rear panels and window sweep kit. Guess what? They sent the wrong sweep kit. Waited for the return label to send the wrong ones back, once they received them the correct ones were set to ship 2-20 from the vendor. Why did I have to wait 3 weeks for the replacements to ship? I have no idea. In all, I have been stalled now for 4 months on getting the interior finished. I'm not trying to paint a bleak picture of Legendary, just be prepared to wait awhile, if your door panels run into the same issues mine did. ( '72 Supreme) I guess the good from all this is that they did not skim over the production issues just to get me off their back. The panels look great. Fortunately there are always other things to do on the car, but next time I will order far in advance. Best of success, Chumley

 

They had some production issues when i got mine, too. However, I did not have to eat any costs or make a big fuss. I just had to wait longer, but the end result was worth it. They made sure everything was made just right.
Other places would have pretty much told you to stop being so picky and just eat it yourself...

Stuff like this should always be ordered way in advance.
