Glue Removal and Plastic Prep for Dash
Glue Removal and Plastic Prep for Dash
Hello all,
I just purchased new wood grain for both my cars. I have removed the old wood grain from my black car. I was able to take a scraper and got the high spots of glue/adhesive removed from the dash. There is still a film or residue on the dash. What should I use to remove this or do I even need to worry about this? H&H said to use a 3m adhesive to install the new pieces, but I want to make sure the surface is cleaned, prepped and ready to go for the new wood grain pieces.

I would think that 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, #08987 would work well and also be compatible with the new 3M adhesive that H&H recommended. The label says that it will not harm cured paint, but that it may mar lacquer finishes.

I have used the 3M product mentioned. Works fine however when I used it I would spray a small portion of a rag and rub the area carefully. Worked fine taking off previous adhesive when I replaced weather stripping.
