Fusick Seat Kits

Has anyone ordered the Fusick seat kits? Were they any good and were they hard to install do the sets come with headrests? They show the correct pattern for a 1970 442 post while Legendary shows the convertible interior.

Best thing to do is call them to see which seat kits they sell.
There are two major well known brands - Legendary and PUI.
Legendary is more expensive, but most often, more correct.
I do know Legendary headrest covers are sold separately when ordered through them; not sure if Fusick might bundle them together or not. I doubt it.
If in any doubt about the Legendary stuff, call them directly to get the hard facts. They are friendly and informative - I dealt with them throughout my interior makeover and had great results!

Had very good results with Fusick.
Just did my car see 1971 442 convert under major builds for pics and more info. I think it is better to die you headrest versus the covers.

Well dang one of my headrests has a crack in it and I also have the Pearl White interior. The drivers side seat is cracked of course but I am not sure about the passenger side. The rear seat is good with no splits or cracks. Would you guys recommend dye the rear seat to match the new front buckets rather than reupholster it too?

My back seat was fine but it was only another $120 for the back and that way I could ensure that everything matched. I am not sure about dying the cost or the result? For the headrest maybe talk to Fusick and see about dying a black one.

Thanks for the info. Did you do the reupholstering too or did you have a shop do it?

I had a shop do it and they said it all went really smooth.
I am pretty happy with the results.

I am sure you can recover the headrests yourself, providing that covers are available for them. I found it was very easy - here are my comments after I did mine:

Several guys here recovered their rear seats pretty easily, too. I had a shop do mine as i was pressed for time and did not want to try them. It sounds and looks straightforward. The covers were top notched.

In my opinion, if you are going to recover the front, go ahead and recover the back to have them all match. You will like the Legendary material - nice quality stuff.

Later you will want new carpet and door and quarter panels to match....

Thanks guys, my uncle redid the carpet and quarter panels many years ago when he did a frame of restoration but never did the seats and the drivers at least has become brittle and started cracking. The car only has 68,000 miles on it but it needs to be cleaned up a bit. I think I am going to redo the seats and maybe give it a new paint job if I get a better place than the barn to store it.

It is starting to get a little rust on the bottom of the doors and behind the rear wheels. Also the top of the rear bumper is starting to rust so I want to find a good chroming place to get that done or I might just buy a repro from Tamaraz and put my originals up in the attic for now.

Thanks again fro all the helpful info, if you have any suggestions for my bumper plans let me know.

I went with Legendary as well. The quality is great and like Rob said, they are very informative and helpful. If you have a problem they handle it correctly and quickly. (The armrest cover was missing a piece of material and in a few days I had a new cover on my doorstep)

I installed my covers myself front and rear. It takes some patience and time to get it right, but well worth the effort. I am happy with the results. Good luck on your restoration.

The only tool I had to buy was hog ring pliers(and hog rings). Remember to take plenty of before pictures so you can go back and see how/where everything goes. I referenced my pics multiple times. A heat source (space heater, heat gun, middle of August in the south) to warm up the covers will make positioning them and getting them tight much easier. A helper wouldn't hurt to help hold things and assist in the stretching (you will need someone to compress the front seat bottom while you hog ring it down)

If you haven't already, check out my build thread and OLDSKL69's upholstery thread for some pics. He had great results as well. That's what gave me the inspiration to tackle mine.

Good luck

Correct.

I ordered mine through Tamraz on Ebay who is a retailer here in the Chicago burbs.
Also The Parts Place is another big retailer out this way. However Tamraz was cheaper.

IIRC I got both fronts and rears for $370 ish
I wanted to stick with someone local because if I had any issues, it's easier to deal with them.
However, the covers were immaculate from PUI. Perfect is the only way I can describe them.

I did ONE of the bottoms and rear by myself.
However the upper sections I had a shop do because i just wasn't getting it down right.\
The other bottom had a couple springs that needed replacement and the cost of tools, etc I just didn't want to deal with.
I'm glad I had the shop do them because the seat i did , is nowhere NEAR as firm as the one they did.
Everything got new foam, but they really stiffened it up for me big time. Seat covers on both are perfect.
Just overall feel is waaaaaaay better on the one the shop did.

The point I'm trying to make is, if you do it yourself, you'll never know what you're missing if you let
an interior shop do it and rejuvenate the springs for you as well while they are in there.
