Dying carpet
#2
I've never tried to dye carpet before but I know color. You would first need to kill the red by using a light green dye. Then use a dark brown dye. Try it on a place that doesn't show like under the seats before proceeding.

I've extended the life of my original black carpet by dying areas where it had faded & worn. I used a sponge / rag to touch up areas. Not sure how even a complete color change would be unless the carpet was completely submerged in the dye solution. Why not just replace it with brown carpet? You might be able to sell your barely-used red carpet to someone and recover some of the cost.

Don't dye floor carpet. It will come out crunchy and more trouble than it's worth. Sell your carpet on FB, clist or eBay and order right color.
Do dye faded door panel carpet. The method is fabric paint and a nylon bristle brush used for cleaning showers. Spray a little and scrub it in.
