Crooked seat backs

I got to drive my Cutlass very little before it went away to be refurbed. When I got it back (with a whole new interior), the seats were very crooked. They both lean inboard, the left more so than the right. And the left seat is lower than the right. I checked the brackets and how they're bolted to the floor, and that all looks correct. Did the upholstery shop do something wrong when they re-assembled them? Any ideas?

Obviously the upholstery shop did something wrong. For starters, tilt the seatbacks forward and see if they installed the black oval seat bumpers as shown in this photo. I'm guessing not. There should be one next to the hinge on both sides of each seat. Note that there is quite a bit of variability in the thickness of the repro bumpers, which can also cause tilted seatback problems.

You can shim those bumpers underneath with washers. In fact...early 'vettes came with an assortment of shims so the driver could get the back angle they wanted. I don't think that's the prob, though...maybe the wrong inner tracks on the seats? I don't know why they would have taken them off......

You pretty much have to completely disassemble the seats to recover them. My guess is the bumpers also. Check to see if they are the same thickness. As mentioned, they can be shimmed. I have had to do this in the past.

When I'm sitting in the seat, it feels like the seat bottom is also leaning inboard. It doesn't look like it, but sure feels like it.

Is this a factory bucket seat car, or a bench car that had buckets added? Were the buckets ever installed prior to having them recovered? Or did you have the shop mount them as well? If the latter, sounds like they did not use the correct mounting brackets on the floor pan.
