Correct Brake Pedal Pad for Disc Brake Equipped Cars
I have not been able to find a definitive answer regarding the factory installed brake pedal pad on a 68-72 Oldsmobile Cutlass or 442, when equipped with disc brakes.
Did it come equipped with a cover embossed with 'disc brakes' or was it was plain - the same used on drum brake equipped car?
Did it possibly depend on which assembly plant built the car?
I recall some of the other GM divisions using different brake pedal pads based upon if the car was equipped with disc or drum brakes.
Any help you can offer is much appreciated.

1970 442 and Vista Cruiser, both with discs, both power brakes, both from Lansing, both plain pad.
My ex-brother-in law had a new 1970 W-30 synchro (same description as above but without power brakes) and it had plain pad.
I've suspected that at least part of the confusion comes from the second-tier restoration houses that sell parts for Chevrolet and claim they are right for every GM just because they fit. YearNone deserved that nickname when it came to Oldsmobiles.

Thanks to all for the responses. Seems every Oldsmobile, from 1970 to 1972, regardless if equipped with disc brakes, had a plain brake pedal with no notations molded into the cover.

My 70 with discs had a Plain pad. What happens is many of the repro parts places have no idea so they list the disc brake pad as correct. I think chevelles and maybe Buick used the disc brake emblem on the pads those years.

Yes, restoration catalogs do confuse the issue by offering both brake pedal covers. Also, some high end restored cars, mostly W-cars, have the pad with 'disc brake' molded into the cover.
