Carpet

I just finished installing the entire interior for my car. I bought everything from Legendary a couple years ago during their end of the year sale. I am very happy with the door panels, sail panel and package tray, headliner I took my time to make sure I had installed them correctly. Now the carpet that I got from them is another story. It is just a very poor fit. I know they don't manufacture their carpet but its just unbelievable how so far off it is. I did order the carpet for an automatic console. The area around the tunnel is just too high. I know the console is going to cover some of it but it just doesn't lay down properly on the passenger side. Also on the passenger side I had to add about 2-4 inches of carpet to make it fit under the fire wall pad. I had read Rob's post about his interior installation and it was very helpful. I also has seen 70 Post comment about how the carpet did not fit properly,so I had an idea what I might run into. But never in my wildest dreams I would think it would fit that badly. Another thing I did do was to use the double back carpet tape on the edges to hold it down in place.I went ahead yesterday and ordered a set of rubber floor mats from Fusick to see if that will help or hide, but if it doesn't, I am just going to take the car to the upholstery shop and see if they can do something with it or even replace it. I have put lots of replacement after market parts on this car but the carpet by far is the worst.

I know mine was about 1/2 higher at the tunnel, but I blamed that on all the dynastuff I put down. I just shimmed it with cheap jute. The lack of material at the firewall should not have happened tho - I had to trim some away. Hope you get it figured out.
Can you tell who made the carpet? Mine was from ACC.

It came from ACC as well. Its is down with those adhesive strips on the back and those things hold down very well. The back fit really good. But still I am very happy with the other interior parts from Legendary. I am going to put the console down this evening and see how much it hides, even though I did do a trial run fit on it already. Also Rob what I used on the floor was Lizard Skin instead of the DynaMat. Now I did use Fat Mat for under the roof and the door panels

Have you cut the holes for the seat track mounting yet??

If not, try pulling the whole front piece forward....it may need to move forward quite a bit. If you do this that means you'll likely need to trim carpet from the leading edge of the carpet where it goes up under the firewall pad (of course, you mention you have a gap there already so maybe this will help there).

For "experimentation" purposes just pull it forward and let the leading edge of the carpet ride over ON TOP of the firewall pad.....you don't want to start trimming anything until you are convinced this adjustment is what you need. If this adjustment is helpful then it will eliminate a bit of the top-of-tunnel misfit. Still, you may need to add jute under there to make up any gaps if there's a large amount of space.

Also...how is the heel pad placement as the carpet sets right now? Put your right foot on the gas pedal like you were driving and see where your heel rests.

Do you have a camera??

Try the "pull forward" method first....adding jute is the last thing you would do.

You could make some "relief" cuts in hidden areas......Under the seat and center console.

I have already punched the hole for the front of the seat bracket, not where it mounts at the rear of the seat. Now my problem is that I had already trimmed/cut space for the shifter, even though I can cut more of it,since the console will cover. The heal placement did not feel bad but more of my problem is on the passenger side, What I am thinking about doing is to cut in the carpet in the middle of the tunnel near the firewall and removing some of the carpet and maybe that will make it lay down a little better. As I mentioned before was that I had to add carpet on the passenger side because it was just too short. I did use the "pull forward" method first and it fit worst. I do have a camera and will take some pictures when I get in
