Arm Rest Backing Plates

The clips are no longer on my door panels. I ordered new backing plates and they didn't come with the clips. Does anyone know here I can get just the clips?

Thanks in advance.

I have some extra clips but I recommend not using them. Once they are on, they are extremely difficult to remove. There are two possible solutions.

First, you can just screw the arm rest on to the door through the backing plate. The plate will stay in place once the three screws are tightened.

An alternative is to do what I did. I used a file and made a notch on each side of the three tabs on the back side of the plate. Once the plate was fitted onto the door panel, I took a regular size paper clip, put it on the tab and turned it perpendicular to the tab so that each side of the paper clip fit into the notch on each side of the tab. That is strong enough to hold the backing plate in place while installing the door panel and then the arm rest.

Let me know if you want the clips, though. I won't use them!

Randy,

Thanks. I was think of just using a Dremel tool and doing something like you said, but I wasn't sure. I have already dropped a ton of cash on this build and one of the only saving graces is the the interior is all original.

I know what you mean about the cash! If you can't do it yourself, you pay a pretty penny for someone else to do it! But, in my opinion, it's all worth it in the end. Both of my cars are finally done, and to as original as possible. But no one sees those clips so I decided to do it a bit differently!

Awesome cars! Yeah I figured, I'm not going for 100pt show car, so a few non-OEM parts, and a few non-OEM mods will be ok.
