Adding gauges - need advice on routing

OK, I'm ready to install Oil, Water and Volt gauges. I'm scared to cut through the firewall so I'm looking for suggestions and pics where you cut and how you routed your oil, water and voltage...

Thanks sooo much!

I'm using the same gauge enclosure as you in my '72.

I drilled a hole in the floorboard just right of the transmission hump, behind the carpet, this way it's hidden. Hole doesn't have to be large, just enough to allow free passage of your lines. Fit a grommet into the hole first to shield your lines from the bare metal hole edge.

you can also apply some sealant around the lines once routed, to weatherproof the site.

nothing immediately handy but I believe the hole I drilled was somewhere around 1/4" or so in diameter - it's best to start small and drill larger only as you need to.

I passed my lines up through the firewall wiring and intake looms to their end locations so things stayed clean under the hood.

I've always just squeezed the wires / tubes through existing grommets, werever they would fit.

No drilling, no holes, no mess.

Usually the A/C vacuum lines and wires come through about a 1" hole, and there's plenty of extra room there for additional lines.

Yeah, from what I remember there is a large hole near the steering column. I didn't need to make a hole on either my 70 Supreme or the 71 convertible, just routed the sending unit and pressure tubing through that existing hole.

I ran a mechanical temp gauge through the firewall under the column, and I mean I pushed the sending unit through, so there's room for electric wires.
