72 Cutlass S Interior

I finally got the seats pulled out of my 72 Cutlass S and have started on the rehab of the floor. That seems to be going just fine, just alot of scrubbing with a wire brush. I chose to use a KBS Rust seal system to finish off the floor.

First couple steps went well with the Auqua just doing a super clean with a wire brush, followed by the Rust Blast which appears to be a chemical etching type process. I left it on for about an hour and then rinsed it off with water. It has dried with a fine dust. and is ready to paint on the Rust Seal. Rust Seal sound very similar to the POR15. Same warning about if it gets on it only wears off, nothing will wash it off....

I ended up pulling the two front plugs and leaving in the back seat ones. I was able to rinse it as required using a bucket under the holes and then finishing up with a shop vac. This shows after the Aqua Clean..
The Rust Blast just sprayed on and you keep it damp for as long as you require.. I used it about 1 hour..

After rinsing and drying it ends up wiht a fine dust and is ready to paint on the Rust Seal.... I'm going to waint until tomorrow to insure it is good and dry. Right now my barn is about 100 degrees so it should dry over night with out a problem.

Mean while I have started to look at the seats. I have bench seats and have orderd a set of Legendary Seat Covers to replicate the original seat covers... I have been attempting to save the old seat covers back buttons to use to hopefully sovle the button popping off probem mentioned in another Thread.. Have not tried to put them on the new seat covers... I have taken about 30 pictures of the seat from all angles, just to help as I attempt to cover the seats...I won't bore you with them. Just trying to see where thye are clipped with the hog rings...

I do have a question for anyone that knows how to take a bench seat appart. I have looked at the points of connection and don't see any way it might come appart. I read the other thread on bucket seats and it did not seem to fit. Anyone out there know out to get the back off?

Any help are suggestion is greatly appreciated
