I'm going to be changing from black to pearl white when ordering new pieces from Legendary during their sale. After negotiating their horrendous web site that only lists certain pieces in certain colours in a totally disorganized way, I'm reaching out here to determine if they offer the section of the upper rear armrest that covers the pistons, picture attached.
Also, does anybody know if their seat backs and side skirts for the buckets matches the originals in both grain, colour and chrome piping. Thanks.
On e color and grain match, the answer is yes - I just did one. On the piston covers, unfortunately, the answer is no. I haven't found anyone yet that makes those. I need a pair of them as well and it will probably become a real issue at some point.

That's good to know about the color of the backs and skirts. Legendary's catalog describes them as just white and not Pearl white, so it's encouraging they match their Pearl upholstery, if I understand you correctly.
That's a bummer that no one makes the piston covers. I find it hard to believe they wouldn't make those with everything else being made for the interiors. Perhaps they sell plain vinyl an upholsterer could properly install.
Thanks for responding.
I've installed a few sets of new vinyl piston covers as part of overall interior re-do's I've done for customers and they were all Legendary's interiors. You might double check on the availability b/c I know 100% I installed new ones (two black interior Olds converts {70 and 72} and a white interior '71 convert).
They were well made...had the sewn seam, etc. The only gripe was they should have made them a bit larger as they were cut a bit "conservatively" where they wrap around the backside and I wanted more vinyl to glue down against the backside.
When ordering from Legend, just specify the pearl white when you call. I have ordered three complete interiors from them with no issues so far. On the piston covers, we may be talking about two different things. If you are referring to the vertical panels that cover the piston sides, then yes they do have the vinyl to cover yours. They may also have the metal panels for the sides. From the posted picture, I made the assumption that you were talking about the metal horizontal covers that go inside the vertical pieces to hide the view of the pistons from the top. This is the piece I was referring to that is not reproduced.
I went through all of my pics and it looks like I have done a pretty thorough job of not shooting one.. The pic below was as close as I could come. The part I was referring to is just barely visible down inside the side piston covers,
I see what you mean Randy. I haven't seen repros of those but haven't really looked either. They are a textured/grained metal piece that gets painted. Would be easy enough to make some out of sheet metal but getting the "grain" pattern would be a challenge. Smooth sheet metal could be sprayed first with a "chip guard" type product and then color sprayed but the look wouldn't be exactly the same.
You would think The Parts Place would be making these but I just took a quick look at their site and didn't see any of these.
Good used are probably floating around out there but then again, probably not the easiest thing to find.
Thanks for the clarification, looking carefully at Legendary's site shows extra vinyl pieces for the convertibles armrest covers and ashwell pad kits. That's good news. For the horizontal pieces, plus other potential interior items, I'll probably have to order the expensive Kolor Korrect paint to match Legendary's pearl white.
I do need one white headrest to go with one I already have, that may be a challenge to find. I haven't read very good reviews for their headrest covers.
Thanks for the info.
Another question, for the rear side panels, on a convertible, where the window switches are located, do you need to send the original upper underside support to Legendary to attach the upholstery to, or do they supply everything together like the door panels? I thought I read you do, or did need to send it as it isn't reproduced.
On my 71 convertible, the Legendary rear side panels do not come with the upper underside support. (at least when I did it two years ago). You can either send yours to Legendary and they can glue it on; or just have them send you the panel and you can do it yourself (that is what I did). Legendary can take some time to complete your order.
I’ve purchased a number of products from Legendary. My suggestion is you call the folks at Legendary and speak to real live human beings that can answer your questions. They have a telephone and each person you speak with has worked in the fabrication department or in some area of manufacturing. Add to this they are VERY friendly and VERY knowledgeable about all of their products.
