On the '69 doorjamb windlace there is a small rectangular piece of vinyl (about 2"x3") at the bottom where it meets the stainless doorsill plate. Is this supposed to go on top of the carpet or under it?

I don't know if this is correct, but on my '68 4-4-2, I tucked it under the carpet. It showed if I left it on top of the carpet.

 

The vinyl flap goes underneath the carpet.
