Question 68 Cutlass 442 dash trim

Does anyone have a way to reproduce the chrome silver "words" and the stripe on 68 dashboards? This has baffled me for years.

I used a Sharpie pen in metallic silver to highlight the "words" on my dash and it worked nicely. Just be patient as you do it so you don't get any metallic silver where you don't want it.

The double pin stripe is tape and unique to the '68 4-4-2 (didn't come on a Cutlass or F-85). Depending upon the color of your interior, the color of the stripe is either white, black or red. I don't have the steady hand to do that sort of thing so I had someone else do it for me and it turned out pretty good as well.

I used the elmers craft pen (silver mettalic) (walmart) on my 72 dash outline (not the bead) i tried the sharpie first but I could only find a fine point it was to tedious.

the elemers craft pen has a wide chisel tip that allows for fat or thin lines. I compared the sharpie and elmers pen side by side and they appear to be the same color. The original outline was chrome on mine, but where it was slighly worn it was a very good match to the elmers pen...where it was totally worn it was black. with the entire dash completed it looked very uniform and much better than the chrome, worn silver and black look it had before.

I attched a sort of before and after pic
