57 Carpet

My 57 98 2dr ht is pink with charcoal interior. The trim code is 331. Where can I get the correct carpet? Thanks for your help.
Pat

Pat, I found a company that list carpet for a 1957 Olds "98". It's Quality Car Interior. They show a Charcoal color available, but I didn't find anything by the color code "301". They state that they make them in "custom Colors", and also list insulation to go under the carpet.Give them a call and I bet they can tell you what will match or send you samples.

I used these guys a couple months ago on my 55 and had good fit and as easy install as I expected. You might give them a call.... Tedd http://originalauto.com/products/carpet-sets/

Thanks for the help guys. My trim code is "331" not "301". Thanks again.

When I had my '57 98 StarFire Coupe I looked high and low for over 25 years for the correct carpet. I have only seen two cars with the original correct carpet. The correct carpet has like a tighter weave diamond shape staggered about every 2" the same color as the rest of the carpet.
Good luck on your search!

Dear Don, thank you for your response. I would love to have the right carpet, but my car has set too long. I have to get some carpet and seats right away. What can you suggest? It is pink with charcoal interior. I appreciate your help. Pat

You might want check out all the contacts in a current Hemmings.
You will have to settle on deciding between the close cut weave "Daytona" or a standard Loop Cut Pile.

Carpet

Would you choose the Daytona or the standard Cut Loop pile?

The Daytona looks sharp and easier to vacuum, but just does not look right in the '57. The closer to the original I believe is the Loop Pile.
Get the supplier(s) to send you samples if they can.

I saw an original 57 88 today at the Ottawa, Ks car show. It had loop carpet. The owner who also does interior work said it was closest to 80/20 Raylon loop. He said he prefers the Daytona but it looks a little sparse for a 98. The "plush cut pile" looks nice too. Would the 98 have had cut pile while the 88 appeared uncut? Any opinions are appreciated.

Try ACC carpet in Alabama they make the majority of original replacement carpeting but for my 55 Olds which is a Daytona weave the best price was Automotive Interiors in Massachusetts

My car is a super 88. I used dynamat in the trunk and interior floors as the carpet sample only had a foam rubber back. Then the carpet arrives and had the jute backing. I could have saved $200 bucks but still glad I did the trunk floor and the car is quieter. Hope this helps !
