Here's 2 photos of a 69 convertible rear seat and the belt arrangement should be the same for your 68.

68 442 seat belts

by the way just wanted to tell you your interior looks great i was just wondering if the center seat belt buckle is on the left or the right side when the passenger is sitting in the center position of the seat, in your picture i see it to be on the right side of the center passenger, i looked in my new gm vehicle and i noticed the buckle was positioned on the left side do you know if gm changed the location of the buckle from 68 to present years and are you sure your buckle is in the correct position in your vehicle, thank you again for that quick response

Thanks. The arrangement of the belts is the way they were when I received the car and I put it back the same way after I restored it. I had another 69 442 several years ago and the rear seat belts were done in the same manner.

On installing the front seatbelts in a 1968 442 with bucket seats and a console, is it recommended to remove the seat? And how about the carpet being tucked under the console. Should the console be loosened to get the carpet out? The previous owner installed new carpet so there are no mounting holes thru the carpet. That would have made it easier. —Billy
