1957 Olds 98 dash pad

Anyone out there ever remove the dash pad from a '57 Olds ? According to the shop manual, it is glued in, but doesn't say if the metal panel to which it is glued is removable. A new dash is available to replace the old cracked one, but I'm not sure if you can remove the metal panel to glue the new one on, or if it must be done in the car. Thanks

My 55 had a fiberglass shell, that was glued to the factory dash. No fasteners, and the metal dash itself is not removable.

The dash pad is glued on.
The metal dash is welded in place.
I got a nice new pad from these folks based in Sweden (took about 4 weeks)

As I recall it was $800 including shipping. It was still less than Just Dashes (your other option).
It's a new pad. I didn't send them the old one.

This is the link to the thread about the dash pad:

Bill - I went to the link you sent for the company in Sweden, but I could not understand anything there (don't speak the language). Didn't see any way to convert to English. How did you communicate with them ?

Thanks,

There's a tab on the home page near the upper right, below the companies base information that has "English" on it, click on it.
