1979 Hurst Olds door panel carpet color & Source
1979 Hurst Olds door panel carpet color & Source
I am trying to renew my door panels on my 79 H/O due to the sun damage / fading. If I strip the panels, sand prime and paint them, I don't think the carpet will survive removal and reinstall. I tried a small corner and it just starts coming apart as the backing separates. I tried ordering some carpet from Original Parts Group (only place I could find them, but I managed to wait 3 months for a dark brown and of course I need the camel tan. They have a lot of options on there, Tan, Light Saddle, Saddle, Buckskin, Beige. I reached out to them before I ordered and they told me there was no color chart and offered zero help with it.
Surely I am not the first one to face this issue here. Does anybody either know what color I should order from OPG or is there a better source? All help appreciated.

Been through this.. Correct Camel Tan not easy to find and mostly discontinued.
Before you buy anything ask for some samples that look close( like saddle, etc etc) from some suppliers like Auto Custom Carpets. https://www.accmats.com/ then match up to your original carpet color as best you can,
In 2000 found a pretty close match from Auto Carpet Systems , now closed..
Also try some auto trim stores if they have some old stuff laying around but most likely they buy their stuff from Auto Custom Carpets.
Be aware some trim places will send you a correct color sample, then send you something else, Have them send you a picture of what they are you sending first, so you know it is in stock and ready to ship.
Talk to OEM Auto Fabric https://oemautofabric.com/ they helped me out on another project,
Let us know what happened, I need some carpet material for the lower door panels which I have been unable to find. Seems OPGI is all about Chevy colors.

X2 on the source of Auto Custom Carpets. What I did was order their Camel Tan color for my 79 H/O and also my 79 Calais (which has the same style interior) and asked them to provide me with enough extra material to carpet strip on the bottom of the 2 doors, which they did for some extra money. Of course this was at least 10 years ago but perhaps they still might assist. Also, if you need a source for the Camel Tan dye color code, I buy from Vinyl Pro in Marietta, GA. Send me a P.M. and I'll provide you with the code they have on file for me for that color.

Thank you both for your suggestions, I'll let you know how it turns out. When I owned my last 79 H/O 16 years ago, it was a lot easier to find parts. I remember replacing all the woodgrain on that one with a complete already cut kit and other odds and ends. Now I feel like in trying to locate hen's teeth
