i just wanted to say hello and welcome to CO I have seen your car on other sites and in some mags for the racing you have done with it . Can I be so bold as to ask "What 's your story and will you share some of your set up and experience with owning racing your h/o Thanks
Okay, I'll spill the beans!!!!I have owned the car since '95. I found the car (or did the car find me?) as a 24K mile original with a NOM that was thrown together with the correct pieces. I later found out that the 2 owner found the car in a Used car lot in North Texas with a blown motor. The car was originally sold at John Poppell Olds in Ft. Worth.
The first show the car went to was the 100th at Lansing. Oh yeah, it was driven from Abilene, Kansas to Lansing!! Then it later went to Dallas, Kansas City, Cedar Rapids, and Denver-- driving to all of those shows. I managed to go in at that time and really look at the motor.
In '02, we borrowed a friends trailer, hauled to Lansing for the last nationals held there and then pulled down to the Dick Miller event at Norwalk. Permagrin for weeks.
Then, hearing about the Pure Stock Drag races and the F.A.S.T. races, I had to find my way to these events. I managed to make it to the FAST race at Martin, Mi in '03. I was hooked! I have been to either the FAST race or the Pure Stocks (or both) every year since.
The best that my car has run was 13.26 @ 103 mph and I am looking for more. The car is running a 2 1/2" Torque Tech exhaust with Dynomax Super Turbos, reproduction Polyglas, 3.90's with a locker in the Olds 10 bolt. The car is solid as a rock and makes me smile!!!!
Diego has been announcing at the PSMCDR for a number of years!!
This years edition of the Pure Stock Musclecar Drag Race will again be in Stanton, MI, Sept 17 and 18.
