The owner didn't give enough info to prove it is real. Sounds like he bought it after it had been cloned not knowing its just a 442.

Look closely at the photo of the front seat headrest and you'll see the remnant of a gold stripe. Draw your own conclusions from that.

having seen that car in person, I can tell you it is not anywhere near perfect, and looks better in the photos then in person. It needs work. No idea if it is real or not though...

Dang Joe, you have an eagle eye. I went through the pics 3 times before I noticed which one was the headrest that is odd. I wonder what is up with the mirrors? Mabey some AMC fanatic stripped them thinking they were the only good parts on the car

Since he says the engine and trans have been replaced, the rear end could still "prove" it is real...

I have actually talked to this guy several weeks ago, an older gentleman who also has another 1969 H/O. The car on ebay I believe he said was his Uncle's car. Yes, the car does not have the correct engine & tranny and isn't in the Demmer vin list but has all the 'earmarks' of a correct 1969 H/O. You would have to buy with the understanding that is no longer has the original drivetrain and can't be concretely verified.

For what it's worth, mine was missing the original block (but did have the D heads), original intake, original carb, air cleaner, and original mirrors. It did have the Hurst sticker in the trunk and the #180 dash plaque. I lucked into a package deal later that included the correct mirrors, intake, carb, and air cleaner. Talk about lucky.

Isn't the console wrong? Didn't they have the std. auto console (the short '68-69 style) with the dual gate?

Nope. The 68/69 H/O used the special mini console that housed the dual gate, not the stock A/T console. Trivia note: The Yenko Camaros used the same mini console and dual gate shifter.

Maybe the guy just wanted mirrors that work?

The 69 H/O mirrors aren't worth a Tinkers Hurray, [although they look good]

Oh come on James, they are good for looking at the curb, your rear quarter panel, your door immediately adjacent to the mirror

Talbot style..

Maybe they should of seen if they could have found the talbot style mirros in a convex design? They certainly look like talbots, and from reading my MCR this month, it seems they used them on the Canadian pontiac beumont "cheetah" like a nickey big block chevelle,

Talbots are close to 200 each and hurst repos are 399 so they are spendy!! could someone post the height of the mirror from the base to the top and the diameter? if i make my vert a clone/tribute, I will not be spending the 400 for mirrors LOL..
