Rebuilt transmission with shift kit, stall converter, 3.23 posi, Tuned carburetor and timing, open element air filter. Headers, true dual exhaust with thrush turbo mufflers
I don’t have the small Oldsmobile script emblem that goes on the header. The car is completely finished now.
Really nice job on that gold, I trust you have a hood ornament worthy of the car? It deserves NOS or nice used for sure!
I had the original which is in pretty good shape. It’s back on the car now. The car just needs a really thorough detailing at this point and it could use some new sunvisors
Seeing this last photo makes me wish my 79 H/O wasn't a pegleg.
Cost 800 bucks to convert it. And I’m really happy with the results. I picked a 3.23:1 ratio and so far I’m happy with it. I was going to go with 3.42:1 ratio but somebody talked me out of it because of the 14 inch wheel tire combo
Thank you everyone for the compliments. This car can be seen around the Detroit Michigan area after next week. It will be part of the Woodward dream cruise 2022
I have not done any detailing under the hood, other than pressure washed it and cleaned it up. I was going to repaint the engine but could not find the matching color. I did not want to change it that much away from looking like a “few years old“ driver.

Looks great. I wish my paint and body looked that good. Nice to see another one with a black interior. It seems like most have the tan interior. Mine used to have an open rear but had a local shop add the limited slip differential. Kept the stock 2.73's, though. Right on the money at about $700 - $800 dollars. Figured that if I wanted to have some fun it was a good upgrade.
Quick question, is this a factory moonroof car? I see what looks to be a headliner that fits that bill, not sure.
It is one of the 3% of this model hurst olds that was built with removable top. Either T tops or factory metal sunroof, I guess only 3% of a 2499 were built that way.
Factory Moon Roof, absolutely outstanding, kudos for bringing back among one of the rarest of the rare options on the 79 H/O. It gets no better than this. By all means, please consider the 1979 H/O Registry for this car with 1979 H/O Advisor Rick Clark. It's on the H/OCA club's web site
Thank you, Rick Clark has been instrumental in the refreshing and reviving of this car. He took pictures of it at my house while I was working on it. He said there was a lot of details on the car that he wanted to document. The car was crazy original when I got it.
Rick said that he thought it was only one of a very few produced with the black interior and a factory power sunroof. I believe they called it a sunroof because the movable panel is metal. If it had a glass panel, it would be referred to as a moonroof. He said it was only the second one that he saw with this combination.
