mounting 69 H/O mirrors

my 69 H/O was missing the original mirrors...I bought a set from Fusicks but I am unsure how to mount the drivers side (pass side is easy the 2 small holes are already drilled in the door)
The drivers side door has larger holes and my mirrors are supplied with 2 small screws is there supposed to be a captive nut or something?? any help greatly appreciated

When I put different mirrors on my 72 i had to drill new holes on the driver said. Luckily the big holes you were talking about got covered up by the base of the new mirrors.

i ordered my mirrors from opgi and they failed to give me all the parts necessary for installation. are the two small screws you have hollow tipped and threaded on the inside? you could be missing the two screws that come from the outside like I was.

the screw that came with the mirrors look like plain old #10 1 inch sheet metal screws... I guess they might just get drilled into the door but not sure

And be sure to notice, the positoning of them is where they are totally unless you're a crane.

Good question. I don't know the answer. I can tell you what I have seen on an H/O.
On the passenger side were 2 small holes for screws as you describe. On the drivers door it looked like it was stamped for a remote mirror (2 openings). The car had square clips slid into each hole to accept the small screws.

A little addition info:

I thought they all had the larger mirror mounting keyhole of the two in the front for the remote cable no matter what mirror you had?
The assembly manual shows the large keyhole for both type mirrors and nothing else.
Or is it the Hurst/Olds that is the oddity with no mirror keyholes in the door and screwed on sport mirrors?..that sure ain't a '69 Cutlass.

I bought my car in 1984, I suppose someone could have replaced the door before I got it, but I don't have clips, see picture below. I have two holes drilled just outside of the two larger holes already existing. I haven't physically seen the Fusick re-pop's, but the mounting holes on my original mirrors are still outside of the existing holes, so if there were clips, I'm not sure what they would do as I would still need holes wider than the larger existing holes, even if they were filled in. Unless the clip was intended to hold a screw from the mirror and not go through the door, then I could see that someone may have replaced mine as I'm sure they got loose over time.
