Wow. I'm sure lots of you saw this post. A gentleman js selling his 1985 442 with 54000 miles. 25,000. Such a beautiful car!!!
I know this may sound like a dumb question but if you had a choice to purchase which would u purchase.
This 442 or a 83 hurst olds . If i came across a white 442. Hands down id buy that. But what's your thoughts.
have a great week oldsmobile ohana!!
85 442 has the same exact drivetrain and suspension as the 84 H/O. Just doesn't have the flashy shifter and C&C added equipment.
Price is a tad high for the mileage, but you can ask anything you want. Probably closer to 20 vs 25. The old dinosaurs obviously haven't been following G-body pricing lately. It was getting beyond crazy but has pulled back a bit.
As far as which one to buy? Who knows. Depends on what you're looking for. Condition/mileage has everything to do with the price. Is the H/O selling for 25 as well? How many miles?
Biggest fear is if the computer system hasn't been hacked. Idiots get under the hood yanking wires when the car doesn't run right because nobody bothers to learn how to fix them properly. THAT's the scary part.

The 1983 H/O in the OP's photos has a 7.5" rear axle. All 1984-87 H/Os and 442s came with the 8.5" axle. And the Lightning Rods are about the goofiest shifter ever. They are for posers who want to pretend they have a Lenco, but all that monkey motion still only controls one shift cable that operates one manual shift shaft in the 200-4R.

Well thar didn't go as expected. Both nIce cars. Just wanted to see what ppl would pick. Glad I have my 83
Personally I love the silver, but both cars as you presented... your H/O all day everyday. As has been mentioned they are nearly identical save for the rear the shifter and the fluff. Performance is identical, but I think you will be disappointed in the 85. It's a muted 83... the flash pizzazz is not there. H/Os look like they should rival GNXs. 85-87 442s look sedate in comparison. Although I could understand the temptation of switching things up, I seem to remember you also considering a 84 H/O... And by the way I may have already mentioned in your other thread or forgotten too. But the tint was a beautiful touch.
P.S. don't take us A body guys the wrong way. It's just most of us are fixated on 64-72, including myself. But i've had several G bodys. On a site like Oldspower used to be your car would go over like gangbusters.

Yes sir. I actually have a 83 and 84 hurst but the 84 is down due to past owners screwing up the motor.
I had 2 87 442s but that was long ago.
Mahalo for your input boss. Always appreciate the support to our cars
I owned a 1987 442 loaded w/every option but sold it about 8 years ago. Beautiful car but no power with that 307. In your case, I prefer the Hurst Olds.
If I were still in the g-body game, I’d have to opt for an 8.5 anti-spin rear low mileage white 442 before the awesome colors/graphics, gimmicky shifters and typical 7.5 ring gear. No disrespect intended, I think they are great…looking. I think I’d sooner vest a low mileage intercooled T-type. Just my thoughts though. I’d already scratched that itch twelve plus years ago. Do whatever makes you happy and disregard the critics. You’re likely to live longer,..and happier.
