chalk marks? you mean grease pencil marks. I know there are some on the underside of the hood both at the front near the latch and near the driver side hinge. I believe that is a 4487. don't have any pics with me at work though

You see Linda is coming to Gawga next year and I want her to sign my H/O's trunk lid.

I'm try'in to get the H/O ready and when I look at the car all I see is flaws.

I've never taken it to a H/O show and I'm apprehensive of all the "perfect 69 H/O's"

The only reason I thought of it "W" is you mentioned it in another thread. Something about "People gett'in **** about chalk marks."

Don't worry about what Linda will think. She's not that shallow. She's seen lots of perfect cars over the years. It's not the cars, it is the people.

I think it's the other H/O ho'ners Jamesbo is apprehensive about?
You do all you can within reason and people will understand if they have a shred of human dignity or grace.
It's all one big H/O family but those guys would be wondering why such a simple thing is missing and comment on your sloth-like laziness.

Just go early and wait for another guy to open his hood and copy it, be like taking tests in school for me.

I met Linda Vaughn at the Tripower nationals a few years back.
I also met the Hurst art director from back in the day at a show in '91 and he told me all kinds of stories about Hurst and his goddess Linda.
I'm a good listener and he was lonely.
I could have stood there all day listening to his war stories by his cool custom painted furd squarebird.

He gave me a couple of decals and said it was one of one of the first times he used her as a model.
He was selling original Hurst decals, stickers, clothes, brochures and all kinds of other NOS Hurst logo merchandise out of his trunk.
If I knew what I know now.

This decal is creased I have the perfect one safely tucked away in my subterranean vault.

Maybe I typed this wrong. I didn't mean to imply she was shallow. From everything I've read and heard she's quite the opposite.

It's all about my frail ego and wanting to have as good a car as possible for the event.

I really never do car shows but I would like to have the trunk lid signed by her. Although I heard of another 69 H/O in these parts, I've only seen one.
Ya just don't run into a slew of them on the street.

I guess with winter upon us there's not much else to do but worry about rad seals, inpsection marks, and fading paper labels.

I'm not going to use the 69 spare tie down. The 70 is much nicer.

I'll just have to get use to the conditon of the car, warts and all.

They're inspector marks put on during various stages of assembly. I think you need some too.

James;

Hit me off list and I can send you several items, I've seen marks on the firewall, fender well's, radiator support and under the hood. See attached pic, I've seen it on several originals, appears to be W-46 and the last 6 #'s of the vin on the underside of the hood near the hinge area. I've also seen X's on the underside of the hood which was suppose to denote that the insulation was not to be installed.

I also have several underhood markings and firewall stamp markings on my website, use the following link and click on the restoration link on the left and see the 'Original Cars' section.

Jamesbo,
I can send pics of the ones we duplicated on my firewall, matching what was there before the resto. Haven't got the hood done yet. The one I don't think we got a picture of was the underside of the trunk floor where it would be hidden by the gas tank.

I can sort of kick myself now, but I bought my car in April of 1984, just 20yo at the time, and my thing then was, getting it shiny and clean. I can remember some grease pencil marks on the plastic fender wells, but as a kid, they were a distraction to the cleanlyness of the engine compartment, so they had to go. Today I can't remember them well enough to know if they were factory or some mechanic left them along the way.
