79 production numbers??

79 H/O numbers are pretty well know.
Anybody ever see anything mentioned on how many California ones were built?

I wonder how many of these are even left? Telltale is the 2:56 rear among other California specs, but I have only seen one CA car.

Other than 2.56 and Ca. emissions. What other oddities would they have? Mine is a Ca. car and the only oddball item is the rear window defroster.

Does it have (or did it come with) an A.I.R. pump? I would think that was a requirement for California emissions back then.

That's what I was thinking. The only 2 items that are different that I'm aware of is that California cars had 2.56 and AIR pump system.

The 79 Marketing Bulletin states under a special note about California cars that Cali cars would be outfitted with California emissions equipment as well as the 2.56, and on California cars Air Conditioning option C60 or C65 was mandatory with the W30.

Yes, it does have air pump. Assumed that was part of Ca. emissions or on all due to being smog years.
Interesting. Had to look up difference between c60 and c65. Looks like c65 was AC w/o heater core.

I had an 80 Cutlass Supreme with a 260 and there was no AIR pump. It didn't matter much to me either way because that engine was only in the car for two weeks before a 1975 350 went in it's place. That 2.28 rear end never stood a chance...lol.

That's a big 10 -4. I'm more than ready to plop a 350 in my 79 Blue Calais (200r4, 3:08 posi), but the car isn't. The original 260 was garbage when I bought it in 1984, leaked oil in 3 spots with 46,000 miles but I still got that to around 100,000 before it was done; it was my daily driver from 1984 to 1990. In 1992 I had another 260 rebuilt (should have done a 350 back then, but didn't have the money) and while being a turtle motor it STILL runs so darn well I can't bring myself to replace it. So, to get a 350 I bought at 79 Hurst Olds instead

I blew the diff in that car three times. Twice was the ring and pinion, and the third was the spider gears. I managed to get my hands on a 3.23 posi from a camaro and swapped that into the housing and that stopped the grenading.
