There isn't just one sheen in the engine bay from the factory. Firewall cowl area is different from the frame, different from the core support, rad top plate etc.
Each of these components got painted separate. If they came from a vendor painted they had a spec they needed to hit but it wont be uniform throughout. Several Olds line workers can attest to this. It was the same throughout the industry then. The NCRS Vette guys have "vetted" this out years ago.

If you are looking for 100% show correct contact the H/O club guys who have unrestored cars for general guidance.
If exact replication is not a concern and you want a nice presentable uniform paint, several vendors offer "engine bay" paint. Its a semi, satin, or reduced gloss paint not sure what the exact formula is. Eastwood has a few different sheens.

The OEM underhood paint should be about 60% gloss.

'69 H/O engine compartment paint

Thank you all ! the 60% of gloss black makes it easier aka enamel semi-gloss fits that bill -
Rust-Oleum & Krylon confirmed semi gloss BUT I've decided to buy from Eastman that puts all this to rest and use it solely in all black engine compartment components.
Again THANKS

Al,
In case you want to try something else I have been using Duplicolor DE1635 Ford semi-gloss black engine paint for the last few years on those types of items. It has been an almost perfect match on all of the GM brackets etc that I have done. Carquest/Advance Auto usually has it in stock. It is very durable also.

That's good advice. I'll get a can of that. I hurt the paint on a core support the other day.
