Saw this auction here and thought they were priced a little low. These were listed as original, but were they?
Was considering selling the ones on the car I have, but thought they would be worth more that this. That's hardly worth it for me to switch the other ones back to the non-chromed version.

The look of the ones I have on there don't really matter to me (chrome vs not.)
However, I would like to find what was original to the W30 cheap enough and sell these ones I have on there now (69 H/O covers.) Then I can use the difference to put toward the project. However, if the switch nets me less than $50, then it won't be worth my time or effort to switch what is already there and I'll just leave them.
That's great news on the 70 A-body BBO covers. They shouldn't be that hard to locate then and they should be relatively cheap.
Ok, sometimes I forget who has eyes on what is actually on this car and various threads and where it came from, so I'm posting these pics again to clear up what I believe I either may be reading wrong, or others may not know what valve covers are on here and where they came from: I know Joe and Pogo already know where these chrome covers were "sourced" from...lol.

Depends on your definition of "relatively". The notched 68-72 covers are in demand for all the 442 clones being built. Repros are available for around $225 or so. Good used ones run about $50 or so a pair.

And once again, notches go towards the back.
So is that your nice way of saying that the ones currently on the car are swapped side to side?
I paid 300 to get my originals (67 w30) rechromed -- i dont think you can get them done for 100 anymore these days. I bought another original set that needs rechromed ( looked like those in the pix above) and paid 250. rechrome will be 300 --- having 550 in em -- that probable helps with placing a value on them?

That does help with placing a value on them, thanks. So you think I could get $250 from them as-is? Minus out the cost of the non-chrome replacements for those and I'm not sure if I'd be far enough ahead. I may just leave them on.

Tweed I have a shop in Menasha WI That should be able to rechrome for the $100 price. But that is based on what I have had done in the past.
I saw what you mean about the notches tonight. I wasn't really paying that close of attention before as to what that meant. But yes, good to know these are installed right.
which one goes where? j/k I too have a pair - but I need the '67 variety and I want an original pair so the "patina" would match the original chrome on the air cleaner & oil fill. Sounds like those '69s are ..... common?
