1968 h/o car 474
Need a little info. My good friend and racer has a 1968 h/o with 48600 all original. We hit a little weird spell while getting it road ready. What is the oil capacity for it. Seems like a dumb question but at 7qts it said it was still a qt.low. Second tid bit of info thewood inlay over the glove box is actual wood with the number 474 which is correct for the. Where all the inlays wood ? Any help is appreciated
7 quarts... something must have been changed. It should have the same oil pan as any non-Toronado 455. Does the pan look correct? How long is the dip stick?
Yes it should be real wood. many years ago I met a guy at the Long Beach Washington cruise that had purchased a stack of those from a NOS stash he'd found. I wish I still had his address but don't. I believe he was from Portland Oregon so Greg at Supercarsunlimited.com may know how to contact him. I don't know if they're being repop'ed, hopefully one of the H/O guru's will speak up if they are.

Very cool car. The stock oil pan is 5 qt. Unless it's an aftermarket pan, DO NOT run the car with 7 qts in it. The crank will churn that extra oil into foam, which will be sucked into the pump. Foamy oil does not do a very good job in the main and rod bearings.
